Jayne Lessard Grew Counseling Services in the 1980s



As a student, Jayne Lessard was extremely active. She worked hard to complete her studies at Wheaton College to become a counselor and therapist. As a student, Jayne Lessard was very active, playing both college basketball and tennis. Jayne Lessard also learned the art of leading and directing others as a coach for the women’s basketball team at Montreat Anderson in the late 1970s.

Jayne Lessard believes that group activities and sports build leadership. She experienced the social benefits in her own life and the experience as a coach helped her become a skilled business leader in the 1980s. Jayne Lessard spent eight years in the early part of her career with High Point Family Service. She was the youngest Executive Director and grew the organization from a three person staff to a large organization. Today, High Point Family Service employs over 50 professionals dedicated to the many areas and aspects of life that families struggle with today.

It took Jayne Lessard less than a decade to become the organization’s executive director. Jayne Lessard not only worked as a counselor, but understood the qualities and responsibilities of a business owner during that time. Jayne Lessard was proud of her early accomplishment but left High Point Family Service Agency to go into private practice in 1989. She has been working in private practice ever since.

Jayne Lessard understands both the duties and responsibilities of a professional counselor, as well as the ins and outs of running a business. Under the leadership and direction of Jayne Lessard, High Point Family Service was able to grow in reputation and size. Jayne Lessard continues to give guidance and aid. Jayne Lessard works with high school and college students to help them determine which major they should pursue and gives seminars on marriage and family. Jayne Lessard is committed to community and family.
